Meet the Experts
Dr. Kevin Ward
Dr Kevin Ward entered the world of freeze-drying in 1993 when he embarked on a PhD in the lyophilisation of proteins and liposomes. After working in the pharmaceutical industry and in vaccine development, he joined Biopharma in 2000. As R&D Director, he has built up a team of 9 dedicated freeze-drying scientists, worked on over 3000 projects for more than 500 client companies, developed 3 analytical instruments, run more than 200 training courses, and successfully secured funding for 15 collaborative research projects.
Prof. Roisin Owens
Róisín M. Owens is Professor of Bioelectronics at the Dept. of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology in the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of Newnham College. Her current research centers on application of organic electronic materials for monitoring biological systems in vitro, with a specific interest in enhancing the biological complexity and adapting the electronics to be fit for purpose. She is author of 100+ publications and 2 patents and her work has been cited more than 6000 times.
Leslie Mather
Leslie Mather is the Director of Training & Technical Support for SP Scientific. She started her career in 1998, holding various positions including Product Manager and Director of Pilot Freeze-Dryers. Leslie was involved heavily in the commercialization of Smart™, ControLyo™ and TDLAS Technologies, serving as the liaison between Lyophilization Centers of Excellence at the University of CT in the United States and University of Erlangen in Germany. Leslie has a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University.
What our customers say about us
"They explained everything very clearly and answered the questions very patiently... the content of this workshop was exactly what I needed to learn."
"You and your colleagues have provided us with exceptional service. The results of your lyophilisation studies have gone beyond our most optimistic expectations. Based on your work, our project is about 12 months in advance of where we expected to be. We look forward to working with you again."
